Alan Smallwood was born in London in 1937. Studied painting lithography and sculpture at Willesden Collage of Art in London. He has spent nearly half of his life living and working in Alicante. There have been several one-man exhibitions of his work in Spain Switzerland and England. The last one, an exhibition of photography "It all depends on the colour of your glasses" was in the Casa de la Cultura, Jalon Alicante in May 2010. 2007-2010 was mainly spent clicking away on a computer delving into the wonders of digital photography but recently he has been been returning to his real love, sculpture. Making things with the hands, creating objects that exist in space and in their own right, not having to be anything or explain anything other than what they are. A little like music.
